We got a new FLOR!

We recently painted the living/dining room wall teal. We are still loving it. The room is so much brighter and happier. We changed out the gray curtains and replaced them with these pretty cream, teal and gray floral curtains from Target's new Threshold home decor line {We needed the longer length of 95", so we had to order them online.}. Then we headed over to the FLOR store in Palo Alto to create a new rug for the living space.

FLOR is "a system of carpet squares that you assemble to create custom rugs or any shape or size." {I got that off their site.} Simply put...It's freaking genius. It's easy to assemble, clean and design. If you spill something on a carpet tile, just pick it up, wash it off and let it air dry. It's really the perfect rug for a family with children and/or pets and high traffic areas. Check out the video about their product.

We had an incredible experience at FLOR {I have not been paid to review this company. It's honest to goodness feedback.}! We walked in with our paint chip {Behr in Lagoon} and the measurements of our rug space {9' x 12'} and were greeted by Colleen, who manages the PA store. Colleen showed us around the showroom, which is really well organized and set-up for you to play with the carpet squares. She explained the different types of carpet piles/textures and color choices for each - so many options.

We spent over an hour looking at colors and laying them all over the floor in different patterns. Colleen even pulled out a sketch pad to work on dimensions and designs with Brian. We wanted to bring a pattern into the room that wasn't too busy or overbearing. Although I was not one to jump on the chevron bandwagon in the past couple years, there is something very appealing about having a thick multicolored chevron rug in this space. It's a classic pattern, and we could bring together the teal, cream, and added in navy as an accent color. For a small fee, FLOR will pre-cut carpet squares into 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, quad or diagonal cuts. To create our chevron pattern, we had them cut the tiles diagonally.

Here's our new rug and some tips on putting together your own.

If you are looking for a new rug, give FLOR a try. Here's a list of store locations.
